FAQ About Counselling
FAQ About Counselling #01

What happens at Aspects Therapy Centre?

Counsellors are professionally trained people who are skilled in listening and reflective skills enabling you to explore issues that are affecting your life. What takes place in the sessions is controlled by what you choose to discuss and explore. Your counsellor will not tell you what to do or make decisions for you, but will work closely with you to achieve your agreed goals.

At Aspects we aim to provide a safe, comfortable and confidential counselling and therapy service for Clients. An Aspects counsellor/therapist will encourage you to talk openly about what is troubling you and will listen carefully to what you say. The aim is to help you become clearer about the extent and affect of the issue, so as to recognise possible solutions.

Following an initial meeting where you can discuss your issues and agree achievable goals with your counsellor / therapist, a course of further regular sessions can be arranged.

How many sessions will I need?

Each individual session is usually 1 hour in duration. Couple and Group counselling sessions are negotiable with each individual therapist.
Each person is different - so each client case requires different amounts of sessions to resolve the issues. These sessions may be weekly or fortnightly and may be in individual, couple or group counselling situations.

FAQ About Counselling #02

How confidential is the service?

Confidentiality is about keeping discussions private unless there are good reasons to discuss risks factors with others. Confidentiality is maintained within the ethical and pratice guidelines of the UKCP and BACP professional counselling and therapy organisations.

How do I make an appointment ?

Please call 01543 379944 or 07773 247733. If you are not answered by one of the therapists, it usually means we are busy seeing clients. Please leave your name and telephone contact details and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

FAQ About Counselling #03

Do you offer weekend and evening appointments ?

Each therapist will negotiate a sutiable time for each client, through mutual agreement. Many clients are seen in the evenings around working times. We also see clients on some Saturday mornings.

Are you able to see children ?

We are sorry but we are unable to offer counselling to families and children. This due to the specialised nature of this type of work. Please visit the BACP website for more information regarding services available for families and children.

Do you treat addictions?

We are sorry but we do not see those who are addicted to substances, this we feel is a very specialised area of clinical care requiring the full medical and social care back up from public sector organisations.

Do you provide counselling within EAP's ?

Yes we complete work under Employment Assisted Programmes. We are able to offer packages of care for this purpose either 6, 8 or 10 week interventions. These have been popular for employees facing work related stress or for those employees who have expereinced trauma in the workplace.
