I have worked in the public sector environment for several years having a mental health nursing background. Here I gained knowledge, skills and expertise in provision of counselling and therapeutic interventions including the facilitation of group dynamics. This role covered clinical work providing counselling and time limited therapy to those of adult age as part of team. I took direct referrals from GP’s, psychiatric teams and social services. Clients were from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds experiencing stress, loss, depression, anxiety, eating disorder, deliberate self harm, post natal depression, obsessive compulsive behaviour, phobias, and survivors of childhood abuse. Episodes of care were seen to be medium in time span, with interventions based on good practice, and continually under review for effectiveness through professional clinical supervision.

My current private practice focuses on the provision of counselling and psychotherapy for Adults of working age and builds upon the experience, knowledge and skills I developed in the public sector as a mental health practitioner and gives a thorough grounding to the private work I now undertake.

I have many years experience in both the private and public sector settings providing talking treatments to individuals, couples and groups covering a wide range of personal issues with the focus upon recovery, change and personal development. There are times in all our lives when talking through our life issues helps us to formulate new perceptions, new options and generate a way forward into development and learning. Speaking to a qualified objective therapist who listens, shares and responds appropriately to our issues is a step towards resolution and personal growth.I have found people use counselling and therapy to address, understand and heal a wide range of life issues.

I have an interest in developing competent counsellours / therapists and have begun to utilise my clinical training and supervisory skills in facilitating focused learning workshops. I am able to offer clinical supervision.
